Changing METABOLISM
is the only effective approach
to long-term weight reduction.

You cannot change your Weight issue by diet only.  You MUST re-set your Metabolism to achieve permanent results.
Do you know the reason dieting fails to work in America?  It seems that everyone with a diet program is saying they have the answer.  Even Dr. Phil has a weight loss book.  Have you seen Dr. Phil lately?  Listen,  I have some news for you.  If you grasp this concept, your weight issue will make complete and total sense.  You will understand what is going wrong with your body and why it will continue to get worse.

Here is the simple version.  You may choose to read the concepts below to get a better understanding, if you choose.  Note: The chemical change (metabolism) that I am speaking of occurs over many years.   It is virtually impossible to change through dieting and exercise.

Metabolism is the actual issue causing Obesity.  The only way to have effective weight loss is to bio-chemically re-set the body's metabolism.  Metabolism becomes compensated over time from exposure to chemicals found within the food many Americans eat on a daily basis.

Processed carbohydrates and food additives literally change the metabolic regulatory system of the human body affecting millions of Americans.  Certain foods contain chemicals that trick your body, creating the following problems:
1. Gradual to uncontrollable weight gain
2. Inability to maintain target weight (based on age and
    height)
3. Cravings for sweets and sugar
4. Fluctuating energy levels
5. Fatigue (lack of energy)
6. Digestive problems (constipation is most common)

usually after the age of 45.
7. Diabetes
8. Circulation problems (cold hands and feet)
usually after
     the age of 45.

Here is how it happens.
1st: The food in this country has EXTREMELY HIGH levels of carbohydrates and food additives (high fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated/trans fats, enriched wheat flour).
Check you pantry tonight and look at your labels.  Probably 50% off all your food contains at least one of these additives.  Exposure to high levels of carbohydrates, the preferred fuel of the body, causes chemical changes to occur in your brain
I just want to make sure you understand the last statement:  Chemical changes actually occur in your brain.  These changes permanently affect your metabolism.  The affected Endocrine organs are the Hypothalamus and the Pituitary.

The chemical changes that occur cause an:

Increased Appetite (both frequency of need and the amount needed to be consumed)
Increased Carbohydrate cravings
Increased Fat storage
Increased Insulin production (leading to pancreatic "burnout" Diabetes)

And a reduction in:
Protein and Fat digestion
Liver enzyme production
Fat and Protein usage
Nutritional absorption
Energy level consistancy

I have been helping people loose weight for over 12 years, and I am still hearing new information every day.  However, many of the concepts are still the same old thing repackaged or not yet illegal (new pharmaceutical medications or nutritional supplements).  If you think about it there are three consistent concepts always used and intended to help people loose weight.

1. Carbohydrate Fasting (the most prominent dieting
    programs of the decade)
2. Drug Induced (F.Y.I. currently the new medical drug of choice
    is Growth Hormone)
3. Low Calorie Intake (diet programs that make you
    count something)

Now, each of the above mentioned programs may in fact help you loose weight.  But, have you noticed how the weight (fat) comes right back on when you return to a normal eating pattern?  There are actually two primary issues here.  The chemical change causes your body to burn, crave and store sugar.  This change also affects your energy, appetite, and overall health.

Carbohydrates----Sugar
Amino Acids-----Protein
Fatty Acids-----Fat

Concept #1:  The body will find the most efficient (using the least energy) path.

Concept #2: Sugar, Protein and Fat are the three sources of nutritional energy.

Concept #3:  Sugar is the most efficient (most easily used) energy source.

Concept #4:  Sugar is digested and absorbed faster than Protein and Fat.

Conclusion:  Given Sugar, Protein and Fat: the human body will utilize sugar first as its energy fuel of choice.

30 years ago the average American consumed 10 pounds of processed sugar per year.  The average American consumes over 150 pounds of processed sugar per year today.
Chemical changes alter the manner in which nutrients are used.

Concept #1:  The human body, when exposed to consistent carbohydrates, will adapt or compensate by changing its chemical metabolic function.  (When you are consistently exposed to high amounts of carbohydrates, your body will adapt and eventually bio-chemically change on a permanent basis)

This concept is easily demonstrated with vegetarians.   When a "true" Vegan does not to eat any form of meat protein for an extended period of time, their digestive system chemically changes.  It is very difficult of any "true vegetarian" to return to a meat enriched diet.  They often become very sick and in some cases can not re-produce the proper enzymes, thus supplementation of digestive enzymes are needed.
